Project: Firmer Foundations
Grant: $265,669 over 2 years
The Firmer Foundations program has been running as a pilot in Melbourne for 4 years. It uses a small group and coaching model that builds the financial capability of women who have experienced family violence, economic abuse and/or inter-generational poverty.
An evaluation in 2016 found that most program participants reported improved financial skills, knowledge and confidence. Most had taken action to better manage their personal finances.
The FLA grant will allow the program to progress from pilot stage to demonstration stage, with on-going evaluation. It will expand to new areas and reach a larger number of women.
