Good Shepherd Microfinance is Australia’s largest microfinance organisation. It offers a suite of people-centred, affordable financial programs for people on low incomes across Australia.
Project: From Conversations to Capability – Stage 3
Community-based microfinance workers have over 40,000 financial conversations with clients each year, as part of servicing their needs for credit, insurance and saving. This research project will develop a toolkit that microfinance workers can offer to clients at these ‘teachable moments’. It will contain resources and tools to boost their ongoing financial knowledge, skills and behaviour over an 18 month pilot.
The literature review from the project is available here.
After the research pilot, Good Shepherd Microfinance will look at the potential to scale it up across Australia.
