Mypolonga Primary School is a small school with an enterprise focus, located on the Murray River in South Australia. It has a shop, run by students, which has been visited every Friday, for the past 18 years by tourists from the Proud Mary paddle steamer.
Mypolonga Primary School has shown that its financial enterprise activities boost both financial literacy and maths results.
This project involves two strands. The internal strand is to expand a second enterprise where the students make student lunches and cater for external functions. The project will make this enterprise more educational and efficient to run.
The external strand of the project is to make Mypolonga’s learning available to other Australian schools. Web content will allow teachers to access resources on how to establish a school business and run it efficiently; and how it links to the Australian curriculum.
This project will give both inspiration and practical assistance so other schools can start enterprise projects.
