Following the 2014 campaign and discussions with ASIC, Financial Literacy Australia (FLA) agreed to discontinue coordination of this initiative.
FLA will continue to run its national Awards Program to recognise and reward outstanding achievement in financial literacy programs, communication and research.
Launched in 2012, MoneySmart Week brought together the corporate, community and government sectors to shine a spotlight on the issue of financial literacy. MoneySmart Week aimed to show Australians how they can take simple steps to make a positive difference to their finances.
The Week included:
- A call to action for all Australians to take the next step in their financial health.
- A National Awards program to recognise outstanding achievements in financial literacy.
- Promotion of existing money management programs, tools and resources.
- A range of special activities and events in the community, in schools and in workplaces.
Over the three years of MoneySmart Week, more than 60,000 people took action on their finances either by doing the online Money Health Check or taking the MoneySmart Week Challenge.
